Job Summary:
Protech Staffing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Machinist with welding experience. This role is responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of CNC lathes, as well as performing light welding and fabrication when required. The ideal candidate will have the technical skills to maintain tight tolerances, troubleshoot machining issues, and follow strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Lathe Operation:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine metal and non-metal parts.
- Input programs, adjust tool registers, offsets, compensation, and switches.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Perform operations such as drilling, grooving, turning, facing, and thread chasing.
- Hold tight tolerances and ensure part conformance using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Load bar stock and verify settings by measuring first-run parts and in-process inspections.
- Adjust, reprogram, and troubleshoot as needed to maintain part accuracy and machine efficiency.
- Sharpen and replace worn tools as needed.
- Perform basic to intermediate welding (MIG, TIG, or Stick) for assembly, part repair, or modifications.
- Use welding tools to support production and ensure parts meet structural and cosmetic specifications.
- Interpret welding symbols and fabrication prints when applicable.
- Assist in fitting and aligning welded components with CNC-machined parts.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of CNC lathe operation required; welding experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and GD&T symbols.
- Knowledge of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience with G-code programming and editing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with potential for overtime.
