Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and switches, as well as calculating the necessary requirements. This role requires the ability to hold tight tolerances while adhering to high-quality standards and safety procedures.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and switches, as well as calculating the necessary requirements. This role requires the ability to hold tight tolerances while adhering to high-quality standards and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming and Operation:
- Program and operate CNC lathes and mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
- Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
- Perform calculations using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry to ensure precision.
- Prove part programs and ensure the ability to hold close tolerances.
- Setup:
- Set up lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
- Set up mills by installing tools, attachments, fixtures, soft jaws, and stops.
- Load the feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Inspection and Quality Control:
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Perform in-process inspection of parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Monitor drilling, grooving, cutting (turning, facing, and thread chasing) operations.
- Take measurements, detect malfunctions, and troubleshoot processes as needed.
- Adjust and reprogram controls to maintain quality.
- Sharpen and replace worn tools as necessary.
- Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes to maintain high-quality standards.
Maintenance and Safety:
- Maintain safe operations by following all safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, following manufacturer instructions.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and call for repairs when necessary.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Maintain continuity between work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to the next shift.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in CNC machining, including programming, setup, and operation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Familiarity with CNC lathes, mills, and related machinery.
- Attention to detail and the ability to hold close tolerances.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to make necessary adjustments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and maintaining a safe work environment.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with opportunities for overtime.
- Manufacturing facility environment.
- Required to wear appropriate safety gear (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, etc.).
