Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Shear & Press Brake Helper/Operator to support daily metal fabrication operations at a fast-paced manufacturing facility. This position involves operating shearing machines and press brakes to produce precision metal components, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all tasks meet safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have experience with industrial machinery, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shearing machines to cut metal sheets to specified dimensions.
- Set up and operate press brakes to accurately bend, form, or shape metal components.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to ensure proper material dimensions and outcomes.
- Measure and inspect finished parts to confirm they meet quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery.
- Monitor machinery during operation to identify and address malfunctions or defects.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report equipment issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Collaborate with production team to meet daily output and deadlines.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating shears, press brakes, or other metal fabrication equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers, tape measure).
- Familiarity with safety procedures in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed in a loud manufacturing environment with exposure to metal dust and machinery.
- Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety guidelines.
- May be required to work overtime or varying shifts based on production demand.
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating Accupress or similar press brake machinery.
- Knowledge of different types of metals and their forming characteristics.
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot minor mechanical or production issues.
