Position: Quality Control Technician

City: Tracy, CA

Shift: 6:00PM start including weekends

Type: Temp-to-Hire

Job Summary:

Responsible for sampling and testing raw meat, conducting inspections of food processing plant, and ensuring compliance with USDA and Company Requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

· Take on the responsibilities and goals of the QA department.

· Conduct inspections of product, processing equipment and facility.

· Sample product for testing purposes.

· Test samples for quality and microbiological characteristics, to include plating, reading plates, recording plate counts, and pathogen testing using PCR technology.

· Document results with complete and accurate information for all duties completed.

· Communicate with personnel from all departments including management and inspection agency personnel.

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Education/Training: Degree in Food Science/ Microbiology or related field preferred.

· Licenses/Certifications: JHA (within 30 days) Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification (within 3 months).

· Experience: 1-3 years Food Microbiology or Food Processing Quality Assurance Laboratory experience preferred.

· Knowledge/Skills: Meets performance standard of current job and Manager recommendation preferred. Computer and Math skills preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise and raw meat.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Working in cold environment

Schedule: First Shift — Monday through Thursday, 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Hourly pay $24/HR

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company quality standards by auditing and monitoring processes in alignment with quality assurance policies and specifications
• Perform inspections throughout all stages of the manufacturing process
• Accurately document and report inspection results using the Business Management System (BMS)
• Conduct mechanical, dimensional, and visual inspections of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies according to inspection plans and specifications
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Maintain product identification and traceability as required
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality and inspection-related issues, including:
  • Partnering with Product Managers to ensure product compliance
  • Working with Purchasing to address supplier quality concerns
  • Communicating with Area Supervisors regarding non-conformances
• Enter and manage data across internal systems and databases
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to all company policies and procedures

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment
• Basic written communication skills required
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and angle gauges preferred
• Experience with Business Management Systems (BMS) is a plus
• ISO 9001 and Quality Assurance experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows-based systems
